David Edgar Buffington

David Edgar Buffington, 86, of Booneville, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2014 in Fort Smith. He was born Aug. 16, 1927 in Scott County to David and Julie Emmerson Buffington.

He was a retired steelworker of 30 years and a member of the Southside Assembly of God Church in Booneville. He was of the Pentecostal faith and served in several positions in the church, such as Sunday School Superintendent and Adult Bible Class teacher.

He served in the United States Army for six years during the German Occupation and Berlin Airlift. While in the Army he spent time working in the K-9 unit. He was married to Ruth Buffington for many years. He loved to spend time with his family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents and all of his brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014 at Roberts Memorial Chapel, with burial following at Bud Davis Cemetery, under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home of Booneville. Funeral Services will be officiated by Rev. Manuel Mann.

He is survived by his sons, Duane Buffington and Dale Buffington of Pueblo, Colo., Charles Buffington of the Philippines, and Alan Buffington of Boise, Idaho; one daughter, Linda Lang of Creswell, Ore.; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Dearl Hunt, Garry Hunt, Kenneth Hunt, Bill Hunt, Michael Breedlove, Dale Buffington.
