Eugene Ray Gossett, 92, of Booneville, Arkansas, passed from this life on Friday, Oct. 20, 2017 in his home in Booneville. He was born Sept. 16, 1925 in Paris, Arkansas to the late William Harrison and Linnie Viola (Sullivan) Gossett.
Ray was retired from SWEPCO after 35 years and 9 months of service. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a founding member of the Victory Baptist Church in Booneville where he served as song leader and deacon for many years. He was a former member of the Lion’s Club and was a former member of the Lodge in Huntington. He served as City Building Inspector and was a retired from the Booneville Volunteer Fire department.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Virgie; brothers, Howard Jewell and William Harrison Gossett Jr.; and his parents, William Harrison and Linnie Viola (Sullivan) Gossett
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2017 at the Victory Baptist Church in Booneville with burial in Carolan Cemetery near Booneville, under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home.
Visitation will be Monday from 5 to 7 p.m, at Roberts Funeral Home.
He is survived by his wife, Bonnie of the home; three sons, Jimmy Dale Gossett (Deborah) of Greenwood, Eddie Gossett (Judy) of Booneville and Aaron Wayne Gossett (Bonnie) of Hattieville, Arkansas; stepdaughters, Kathleen Biggs (Danny) of Bentonville, Karen Cain of La Mirada, California and Kristine Cambre of New Orleans, Louisiana; stepson, Jerry Cain (Estella) of Muskogee, Okla.; 15 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Jarod, Timothy, Josh, Dallas, and Alex Gossett and Brian Reed.
