James “Coon” DeRoche, Jr., 80, of Booneville died April 9, 2017 in Fort Smith. He was born July 30, 1936 to James Joseph, Sr. and Ella Marie (Arceneaux) DeRoche.

He was a pipeline welder for Pipeline Welder’s Local Union 798. He was very unselfish; he was always willing to help those in need. He loved the outdoors, gardening, God, his family and was a good provider.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and five brothers.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Carol Ann (Topham) DeRoche; sons, Russell DeRoche and James DeRoche, III both of Booneville; daughters, Kathy Droemer of Magazine, Bonnie Gossettof Hattiesville, Ark., Judy O’Hagan of Spiro, Okla., and Amy “Fenix” DeRoche of Fort Smith; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three sisters, numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

A memorial service will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Booneville at a later date. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Booneville Funeral Service.
