William Cleo “W.C.” Starr, age 99, of Havana passed away Saturday, Oct. 22, 2016 at Mitchell’s Nursing Home in Danville.

He was born Sept. 14, 1917 in Sugar Grove, Ark., to the late William David and Pherbia Victoria Coppeak Starr. He was an WWII Army Veteran, a carpenter, a Master Mason life member of Blocker Lodge 247 in Booneville, life member of VFW and life member of Carpenters Local 1836.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 76, Velma Gray Starr; grandson, James David Starr Jr; and daughter-in-law, Peggy Price Starr.

Survivors include his son James Starr and Brenda Gray of Dover; daughter and son-in-law, Syble and Frank Spillman of Fayette, Miss.; granddaughters, Deborah Starr, Pherbia Mynatt and Alicia Strittman; 13 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and one nephew and one niece.

Funeral service will be 2:30 p.m. Tuesday Oct. 25, 2016 at Moore’s Chapel Community Church with Owen Yandel officiating. Burial will be at Moore’s Chapel Church. Visitation will be 2 to 2:3, Tuesday, before the service, at the church.
