If you are planning a swimming outing to area lakes, your choices have been narrowed by two.

Ozark-St. Francis National Forests officials have temporarily closed Spring Lake and Cove Lake swimming areas to the public for health and safety reasons, according to a press release.

Weekly water testing found high concentrations of E Coli, which is usually caused by recent heavy rainfall that can carry a variety of contaminants into the water, including animal waste.

Forest officials are testing the water daily and will reopen both swim areas once tests show E Coli levels have dropped to a safe level.
