A Magazine man has been charged with being a registered sex offender working with children.

The charge against Travis Hopson, 44, stems from a deputy sheriff attending a church service. There Hopson, who is Level 3 sex offender according to an arrest warrant affidavit, was seen directing an offering collection and making two visits to a young man directing the service delivering a note each time.

The young man directing the service then, the affidavit states, turned the service over to Hopson who called for all kids to come to the front to sing a song and while they did, Hopson snapped photographs.

The charge against Hopson is a Class D felony punishable upon conviction by up to six years in prison and or a fine of up to $10,000.

Hopson will be arraigned on the charge on May 3 in Booneville. He is currently free on $20,000 bond.
