Logan County Judge Gus Young enacted a county wide ban on outdoor burning Wednesday about 1 p.m.
Young’s declaration came a day after Arkansas Forestry Commission officials announced that bans had been declared in 19 counties. Besides Young, at least five other county judges have also followed suit as of Wednesday.
Among those counties already under a ban Tuesday were Johnson and Franklin, which border Logan.
Forestry Commission crews and local fire departments extinguished 98 wildfires that burned about 1,460 acres between Saturday and Monday. More than 40 homes were near the wildfires, but just one was lost. That home was destroyed by a fire Saturday in Saline County
All of Arkansas was placed under moderate fire danger last Friday afternoon and since then Central Arkansas has been raised to high danger status, the news release said.
