Friday Fire Call

Fire chief Mike Talley (left) inspects the exterior of a home on West South Street while Jim Tripp uses a hose to spray water into a home on West South Street shortly after 5 p.m. Friday. There was nobody home at the time of the fire, which was apparently called in by a neighbor. Talley said Monday the fire started ignited by a space heater being left on and plugged into an extension cord, which was under some clothing and when the cord got hot the clothing ignited.
