Bonds have been set for the two men arrested in connection with an Aug. 16 shooting at a Sharpe Street residence. The third suspect remains at large.

Paul Niel Schneider, 25, and Steven Allen Cox, 28, are being held in the Booneville jail on $25,000 bond on suspicion of first degree battery and residential burglary Wednesday afternoon. The men, who were both arrested on Monday, are cousins, according to Booneville Police Chief Al Brown.

John James Schneider, 28, a brother to Paul Neil Schneider and cousin to Cox, is still sought but is believed to be in the area, Brown said.

Anyone who has information regarding the case can contact investigator Kenneth Lewis, Brown or Lt. Steve Reid at 675-3508. The department has an anonymous tip line 479-675-7111. Any information about John James Schneider’s whereabouts will be kept confidential.

Thomas Johnson was shot just above the wrist with a small caliber weapon after the three men allegedly arrived at his residence and a fight commenced shortly after 7 p.m. on Saturday.

The bullet exited Johnson’s body about an inch and a half from the entry point and he refused medical treatment, Brown said Sunday.

Brown said it was still uncertain which of the there men shot Johnson.
