In the final 2018 competition for Hot Springs Village Anglers’ Club competitors, which took place Nov. 3 on Lake Balboa, Craig Schilling and Trent Cole took first-place honors.  
In the angler division, Schilling won with five bass weighing 12.6 pounds. Right behind him was Bruce Zorn with five bass weighing 12.5 pounds. One of those was the big bass of the day, a 4.1 pounder.
Third place went to Mike Crews with five fish weighing 6.4 pounds. In fourth place was Frank Elliott with four bass totaling 5.8 pounds. Fifth place finisher Cliff James had three bass coming in at 5.3 pounds.
In the co-angler division, Trent Cole came out on top with five bass weighing 10.9 pounds. Cole also had the biggest bass in the division at 3.6 pounds.
Second place went to John Matherne with five fish totaling 8.7 pounds. Third place winner was Robert Sonnen with four bass totaling 6.1 pounds. Paul Galfund, in fourth place, also had 6.1 pounds, but Sonnen had a bigger fish so was awarded the third place position.
In fifth place was Jerry Swaim with four bass weighing 5.3 pounds.
