Vapor Valley Questers will meet for lunch at the DeSoto Club at 11:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 17, Keith Hammond, historian of American money and owner of Coins and Such, will speak.
Through the influence of his grandmother, Hammond became interested in coins as a teenager in Pennsylvania.
He first came to Arkansas as a student at Harding College in Searcy, later going on to other schools in Texas.
While living in Texas, Hammond was a pastor and pursued a carreer in the medical supply field. Eighteen years ago he and his wife moved to the Village.
Coin collecting continued to be a hobby throughout his life; today it is more than a hobby, it is a passion and livelihood. What does he like most about collecting money? “It’s the history!” he said.
