The South Logan County Fair will reach a milestone when it is held next month because this year’s edition marks 75 years of the fair.
The fair will be held Sept. 4-8 at the South Logan County Fairgrounds.
Because of the occasion, the annual fair book, which spells out rules, defines categories, features an event schedule and more, is dedicated to the fair itself.
“In 75 years the fair has endured heat, rain, cold, new buildings, old buildings being torn down, rodeos, no rodeos, carnivals, no carnival, sale, no sale, sale, queens, no queens, talent shows, no talent show, games, no games but one thing has been steadfast: the exhibitors,” the dedication page of the book states. “Although the exhibitors’ faces have changed, some have become spectators watching their children and even grandchildren become exhibitors. They still bring their animals, crafts, canning, sewing and baking to the fair.”
The dedication continues to say with out exhibitors, supporters through attendance, business support, volunteers, the Logan County Extension Service and the schools in all of Logan County, the fair could not have made it to 75 years.
“So while some fair are going to the wayside, the South Logan County Fair is heading for that 100-year mark and even further because of the support of Logan County,” the dedication concludes.
