Doug McMillen of Wooster has announced his candidacy for mayor of Wooster. McMillen’s family includes his wife Lameta; son BJ of Wooster; daughters Emilee Smith and her husband Chris and son Ryder of
Garner; Hannah Linz and her husband Nick of Russellville; his parents E.F. "Sug" and JoAnn of Wooster; in-laws Clara Mae Kelly and the late Hulon Kelly of Mt Vernon.
"Sug" served on the Wooster City Council from 1989-1999 followed by two terms as mayor.
McMillen is a graduate of Greenbrier High School and Hendrix College in Conway with a degree in economics and business. He is a life-long resident of Faulkner County, moving to Wooster in 1969.
He served on Greenbrier School Board as member and president.
As Rotary Club member of the Morrilton Rotary Club, he was named Rotarian of the Year. He was also awarded the most prestigious of Rotary awards, a Paul Harris Fellow.
“I believe that my experience in construction, accounting, grants and sponsored programs, property management, budget development, will benefit the city if elected," he said. "Along with the encouragement to run, the common message from the people is to reduce expenses, reduce water rates, and listen to all the people of the city.”
