When the Booneville City Pool opened for business on Thursday of last week, it did so with a new addition in the form of a slide allowing those who dared a ride into the pool.
Booneville Mayor Jerry Wilkins had said prior to the pool opening for the 2018 season a slide would be added but after the slide arrived because there was no ladder within close proximity of where the slide was to be installed, a ladder had to be added as well, which delayed installation until last Wednesday.
The slide was actually first used on Wednesday night during a fundraising swim night at the pool.
Irnoically, in 2012 there was a fear the Booneville City Pool would have to close due to an inability to bring the pool into full compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
There simply was no easy way for most handicapped people to enter the pool.
