Fort Smith police arrested a man who reportedly said he planned to use a bomb in a local clinic.

Justin Schalski, 27, was arrested on suspicion of terroristic threatening Wednesday. Schalski, who said he was going to use a homemade bomb in Perspectives Behavioral Health Management, had explosives inside his residence, according to a Police Department news release.

Officers responded to the clinic at approximately 8:39 a.m. Wednesday in reference to Schalski's threats. Officers later found Schalski and interviewed him when they discovered that a bomb was in his home in the 3200 block of North O Street, the release states.

Schalski gave officials permission to search his home for the bomb, the release states.

Bomb Squad personnel with the Fort Smith Fire Department discovered a small container holding firecrackers and black powder in Shalski's residence. They disassembled the device, the release states.

Schalski was then arrested and taken to Police Department headquarters for further investigation, the release states.
