PARIS — Arkansas State Police have arrested a man in connection to Thursday morning's fatal fire in Paris.
Ricky Carter, 27, of Logan County was arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder and arson in connection to a residential fire that killed a 2-year-old child in Paris on Thursday morning. Carter was staying in the affected residence and helped carry the child out of the residence during the fire's response, according to a State Police news release.
The child was later pronounced deceased at a local hospital. The body has been sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab to determine cause and manner of death, the release states.
Carter and a Paris police officer also carried three other children out of the burning home without injury, the release states.
The fire, which Paris police responded to after it was called in as a loud noise complaint at around 4:26 a.m. Thursday, has been handed over to State Police for investigation. The investigation is ongoing, the release states.
