A mixed-use development including residential, retail and restaurant space could be coming to Wells Lake Road at Chaffee Crossing.

The Fort Chaffee Redevelopment Authority real estate review committee decided Wednesday to recommend that a $150,000 offer from ERC Holdings, LLC to purchase about 12 acres be approved. The full FCRA Board of Directors will make a final decision at its meeting today.

The first thing ERC plans to have on the land is restaurant space, Rod Coleman of ERC said. As far as retail goes, he is interested in having biking or running-related stores there.

There is also enough room for nearly 100 residential units, which are planned to be attached housing, such as townhouses, Coleman said.

The 12 acres is east of Providence, a housing development that ERC also owns.

If given final approval, ERC would begin work at the beginning of January, Coleman said.
