Got lunch?

If not, the Booneville Development Corporation/South Logan County Chamber of Commerce has a suggestion for you: the Taste of South Logan County.

Relaunched last year, the event will be held at the Jeral Hampton Meeting Place, as has been the case during both of its tenures as a BDC/Chamber fundraiser.

More than 150 people purchased plates to sample wares from both food service vendors and home chefs alike last year. Tickets to do so this year are $10 apiece and will be available at the door during the event hours of 11 a.m., to 2 p.m. Take out plates are also available.

Prior to 2016, the last time the event was held it was slated during the dead period for high school athletes and the large number of people out of town for vacation likely contributed to the low attendance.

Only a year earlier the event had attracted about 175 in the first two hours and there wasn’t enough main course offerings to continue selling plates. The event has drawn as many as 200. In 2010 attendance was only about 120 but the event had drawn the most food options in its brief history. Attendance for the inaugural event in 2007 was about 200.

Awards to be determined by voting eaters will be best dessert, best side dish and best main dish, with one also garnering the best of taste.
