A crowded race for Position 3 on the Magazine School Board got even more crowded on the final day of the filing period as a fourth candidate completed the necessary ballot prerequisites.
Brent Haney turned his final paperwork a few hours before the expiration of the noon filing period last Tuesday. Haney join, in alphabetic order, Brandy Moore, Glenn M. Parrish and Michael Springer in competition for the lone board vacancy.
The quartet are looking to replace Manfred Phillips, who spent 10 years on the board and is not seeking a third term.
There will be no such excitement in Booneville as only incumbent board member Robert Haynes will appear on the ballot. Haynes has been on the board for about two years. He was first appointed to fill a vacancy then ran unopposed for the final year of that term. Now he lands a full five-year term.
Early voting for the election will be held Sept. 12-18 in the Logan County Clerk’s offices in the Booneville and Paris during regular business hours. All voting on Sept. 19 will be at the polls.
