The filing period for the Sept. 19 school elections ended yesterday at noon. As of the end of the day Friday there had been two candidates file for Position 3 in Magazine and one for Position 3 in Booneville.
In Magazine, the candidates, in alphabetic order, are Brandy Moore, Glenn M. Parrish and Michael Springer. Besides those three, another candidate has turned in a petition as of Monday morning but had yet to return other candidacy paperwork.
The candidates are seeking to replace Manfred Phillips, who spent 10 years on the board and has stated he will not seek a third term.
In Booneville, only incumbent Robert Haynes has filed. Haynes was appointed to fill a vacancy on the board two years ago, ran unopposed for the remaining year of that term and is now running for a full five-year term.
Early voting for the election will be held Sept. 12-18 in the Logan County Clerk’s offices in the Booneville and Paris during regular business hours. All voting on Sept. 19 will be at the polls.
