Aspiring school board members can begin filing their petitions for candidacy at noon today (July 5) in the Logan County Clerk’s offices in Booneville and Paris.
The filing period will close at noon on Tuesday, July 11.
A candidate can file with petitions containing the signatures of 20 registered voters for the district in which they reside and seek to represent. Petitions can be picked up now at the Logan County Clerk’s office at the Booneville or Paris Courthouse.
In Booneville, Position 3 is open. Bobby Haynes, who was first appointed to fill a vacancy then ran unopposed for the final year of the vacated term currently holds that position.
In Magazine, Position 3 is open. Manfred Phillips has held the seat for 10 years but reportedly will not seek a third five-year term. As many as five or six individuals are rumored as potential candidates and at least three have Facebook pages for their campaign.
