A winery and a gardening store have the green light to purchase a building at Chaffee Crossing.

The Fort Chaffee Redevelopment Authority (FCRA) voted Tuesday to accept the $50,000 offer from KRIJO Investments, LLC to purchase the building at 7709 Ellis St.

The buyer plans to use the building for Growfresh Organics, “a full service store and resource for novice to expert home and commercial gardeners who are growing or who want to grow fresh food year round,” according to the letter of intent.

JKC Cellars is also planned to have a space in the building. JKC Cellars will have a small farm winery with production, tasting and wine bar, along with retail space for wine, education for new home winemakers and storage for produced wines.

"The (real estate review) committee felt that this would be a great fit for the historic district," said FCRA member Galen Hunter, noting that the development will be close to where a brewery is being developed.

The expected closing date is June 28.
