The 14th Annual Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast was held Thursday, May 4. Mayor Jerry Wilkins said the crowd was the largest in many years.
The event is an annual fundraiser for the Boys and Girls Club of South Logan County. This year the event raised $3,000. The event is sponsored by First Western Bank.
The breakfast is also a time to recognize businesses and individuals that have made an impact on the community. This year the mayor choose Robin Gillett as Volunteer of the Year and Gillet’s business Rockin’ Robins as the business of the year. Gillett sponsors a car show every year and is involved with the STEP UP program through the Chamber of Commerce.
This year Chief Albert Brown was chosen as Citizen of the Year. In addition to being the Chief of Police, Brown works with the people and businesses of Booneville to make Booneville a better place to live.
Mayor Wilkins closed the breakfast by saying “A community that prays together stays together.”
