In the fall semester or the 2016-17 school year, the Booneville Junior High FBLA took part in many community service projects and activities.
Before the school year had even started, the FBLA officers recruited future members at the Junior High Open House that was held on Aug. 9, 2016. This was done by handing out membership forms and FBLA flyers to students going into the 8th and 9th grade. After completing this recruitment project with the officer team, members successfully recruited 59 new members from the 8th and 9th grade.
The school’s Middle Level FBLA Chapter recognized our officer team at the District Leadership Conference on Wednesday, Oct. 5. The officers that were inducted into our chapter for the 2016-2017 school year were Jessica Parrish, President; Shelby Posey, Vice-President; Cam Brasher, Secretary; Gabe Fennell, Treasurer; Kobee Nolen, Reporter; Josie O’Bar, Parliamentarian; Kylie Rogers, Historian; Andrew Robertson, Representative; and Noah Weaver, Representative.
The chapter had many activities planned for the year that included our officer team helping with the Flu Shot Clinic at the Booneville Elementary School, collecting money and buying gifts for students in our district that were on the Angel Tree, hosting a Penny War for the Leukemia/Lymphoma Foundation, selling Pink Out Shirts for the March of Dimes, and selling cupcakes for Valentine’s Day to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Each of these service projects were a success. The chapter raised over $1,750 for these organizations.
The chapter’s next project is to collect coloring books, crayons, colored pencils, and markers for Carver’s Coloring Crew at the Arkansas Children’s Hospital.
Officials say they graciously appreciate everyone who helped to contribute to our projects by buying cupcakes, t-shirts, or helping them with the penny war.
