LITTLE ROCK — A man who authorities said operated a strip club and brothel out of his home in Little Rock was sentenced Wednesday to a year and nine months in prison.
Gary Lemond Shorter, 61, pleaded guilty in April to making a false statement to the Social Security Administration. At his sentencing hearing Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Little Rock, Shorter also was ordered to pay a $500 fine and $15,208 in restitution to Social Security, according to a release from Chris Thyer, U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Little Rock.
Thyer said Shorter began receiving Social Security disability benefits in 2011 based on false claims that he could not work. Shorter also was making money by charging $10 admission to his strip club and brothel, known as the “Cat House,” and selling alcohol to patrons, according to Thyer.
Shorter also made money by allowing patrons to pay for sex acts with women in the upstairs of his home, known as “the VIP area,” Thyer said.
