Mayor Dale Dickens has been named the 2016 recipient of the Blue Mountain Community Service Award.

In recognition of his outstanding and dedicated service to the community of Blue Mountain, Dickens was presented the award at the monthly Blue Mountain City Council meeting in December.

The award was presented by Chairperson of the Blue Mountain Improvement Committee, Grace Ryan-Calva, who won the first award, and Blue Mountain Fire Chief Larry Dickens.

The Blue Mountain Improvement Committee, which is comprised of members of the community, has taken on the responsibility of making Blue Mountain a safer, quieter and more beautiful community for all of its residents and makes an award presentation in years it deems worthy rather than annually.

As stated by Ryan-Calva, “Mayor Dickens is an excellent choice for this award as it recognizes a resident of Blue Mountain who has gone above and beyond the normal duties of a community volunteer to improve the lives of Blue Mountain residents.”

Fire Chief Larry Dickens added, “Mayor Dickens is responsible for a lot of the changes in Blue Mountain that are evident in the cleaner look of the city, the excellent quality of the water system and the efficiency of all the departments in city government. Besides his mayoral duties, Dickens is constantly giving of his personal time and use of his equipment to improving property and streets in the community.”

Mayor Dale Dickens is a native of Blue Mountain and a graduate of Magazine High School. After many years in private business, he uses his retirement years to volunteer in his home community and all of the residents of Blue Mountain extend their gratitude for everything he has done for Blue Mountain.
