As of this week the Booneville Democrat has a new publisher as Kristyn Sims is replacing Vickey Wiggins in the top position at the paper.

Sims graduated from Charleston High School and has worked at the Charleston Express for 23 1/2 years. She started as a type setter, then moved into the office manager, general manager and publisher roles at the Franklin County publication.

Sims is married to Larry Sims, Jr. and she lives in Booneville with her family, which includes their three daughters, Jordyn, 13, Daisie, 10, and Ellie, 6.

“I look forward to starting the new year in the town I live in,” Sims said last week. “I feel the Booneville Democrat is a strong presence in the town and I can’t wait to be part of it.”

Wiggins, who was with the Democrat for 15 years, will continue her role with the Paris Express while Sims takes on the dual role of publishing both the Booneville and Charleston papers.
