Rob Kopack received the Exemplary Board Service Award from the Arkansas Single Parent Scholarship Fund on Nov. 28, at the monthly meeting of the Single Parent Scholarship Fund of Logan County.

Kopack received the special award for his exemplary support and encouragement of both the Logan County affiliate as well as the single parent students it serves. Kopack has been a SPSFLC Board member since its formation in 2012.

Kopack continually served on the scholarship committee and was key to the interview selection process for the scholars. His words of encouragement and humor made the award events special and entertaining for the scholars, their families, the board and special guests each semester. His compassionate ear and words extended to the local grocery store where one of the scholars worked, Kopack made sure to go through her line to check on her progress and share concerns.

Kopack assured the SPSFLC annual golf tournament fundraiser was a big success. As a Rotary Club, member he has helped with donations for SPSFLC and shared the progress of our scholars and our efforts within the community.

Kopack worked for the US Forest Service for 35 years. He spent 27 years in Paris. He played the part of Smokey the Bear in town parades and several other activities in the community. He retired on July 1.

Kopack and his wife Cindy plan to relocate to Mountain View in March but he has promised to return to Paris when SPSFLC needs him, which will be often.
