Author Eric Walters visited the Booneville Schools on Wednesday, Nov. 2.
Walters is Canadian and has written over 100 young adult and picture books. Before becoming an author, Walters had careers as both a teacher and a social worker. He and his wife, Anita, have founded a children’s outreach program, the Creation of Hope, which provides support, education, and advocacy for more than 500 orphans living in Kikima, a small rural county in Kenya.
Walters started his day speaking to all the high school students and then had an informal “Get to Meet the Author” in the library while students had books signed. Each member of the HS Library Club had received Book 1 & 2 of his Rule of Thre3 series.
Members of the high school and junior high library were invited to attend a VIP Luncheon with Walters. After lunch, Walters spoke to the junior high students, and then he went to the elementary school and spoke to grades 4 through 6.
Along the way Walters shared what sparked his career in writing as well as his ideas for his books. His novels have won more than 100 awards.
