The Booneville, Booneville Rural and Magazine Fire Departments responded to a fire at the old saw mill in Booneville Friday.

The fire destroyed a warehouse on the property located south and west of First Street and burned most of the overgrown grassy area. The building was fully involved when crews arrived, shifting attention to preventing the fire from spreading to the surrounding neighborhoods.

The BFD had responded to fires in that vicinity at least four times this week, including on Thursday. Apparently a saw dust pile fire had been set on fire and although it had been extinguished, repeatedly flared up again, according to Booneville Police Chief Al Brown, who along with other BPD officers were working traffic control in what became a congested area along First and Owen.
