Community School of the Arts announced last week Gospel Fest 2018 is set for Friday April 13 at 7 p.m. at First Baptist Church Van Buren.
Tickets are only $13 and are on sale at all participating churches, CSA, Solid Rock, Revelation Book, FBC Greenwood, and Bedford Camera & Video. Tickets are also available online at csafortsmith.org or by calling CSA at 479-434-2020. Tickets will also be available at the door.
This year, four area church choirs — Rye Hill Baptist, FBC Van Buren, Concord Baptist, and FBC Alma — are coming together for a night of old time gospel music. Some of the area’s favorite soloists will be singing as well and accompanied by a live orchestra.
Soloists include tenor Barry Law, black gospel singers Brian Gary and Belva Ross, southern gospel singer Pam Camp, and an area men’s quartet (Steve Stewart, Donnie Crosswhite, Brandon Willey, and Andy Anderson) singing Gaither favorites.
Area worship leaders include Steve Stewart of Rye Hill Baptist, Donnie Crosswhite of FBC Alma, Greg Childress of FBC Van Buren and the host of this event, and Joe Vallandingham of Concord Baptist and orchestra conductor for this event.
Members of the orchestra include Carol Andrews, Tim Schale, Tristan Bobbitt, Carol Sikes, David Wright, Friscoe Boyd, Karen Preston, Mack Burke, Bill Ratcliff, Gabrielle Chandler, Carroll Parker, Jared Shields, Greta Lane, Jerry Lane, Connie Bailey, Robert Wight, and Rosilee Russell.
Some of the favorite selections include pieces like How Great Thou Art, I Bowed on My Knees and Cried Holy, Just a Little Talk with Jesus, a Heaven Medley of many old time favorites, and Gaither’s He Touched Me and As Long as I’ve Got King Jesus. Gospel Fest is a unique event in the community and very popular.
The event is part of the Community School of the Arts Stars on Stage concert series for 2017-2018. CSA is a preparatory program in the arts for children and teens that provides high-quality instruction in music, theatre, dance, and visual art to all ages and levels.
