The Booneville Garden Club met on Wednesday, May 17, at noon, for our annual Spring Salad Luncheon at the home of our president, Anne Cooney. Each member contributed a delicious salad while our hostess provided drinks, bread, and a beautiful dessert. This get-together is one of our most memorable events of the year. We had our regular business meeting following the meal and Lee Ann Robinson presented the devotional. Darlene Wolski-Miller read the minutes from our last meeting and gave the Treasure’s report.

New business discussed included National Garden Week, June 5-9, and the placement of flower arrangements during the week at First National Bank, the Public Library Community National Bank, City Hall, First National East and the Chamber of Commerce.

For our Field Trip we voted to carpool and attend the Dardanelle Flower Show on Wednesday of National Garden Week. Chairman, Sue Hughes, gave the report on Yard of the Month (the Loughridges at 291E.7m St.) and Storefront of the Month (Reid’s Hometown Barbecue, 42Main St.). We would encourage you to be in the running for these honors by making your place attractive, thereby showing some hometown pride, not only for our residents but for visitors and, hopefully, newcomers to our area.

Each member chose a location in town and committed to maintaining a small area of our civic and community projects. This organization spends countless hours working for the betterment of Booneville through fund raisers, our time, energy and personal sacrifice. Our collective efforts to pull weeds, prune and plant seems to be worth the investment and we’re glad to do it.

Meeting was adjourned and each member was given a plant to take home.

If you would like to become a part of this good organization we would be delighted. No member is pressured, just do what you can. We really do have a good time— even when work is involved. Call 479.203.1333 for more information OR join us at our new location: the Booneville Community Building on Holden St., at 1 p.m. on the 3rd Wednesday of each month. Hope to see you there!
