Names of note

Melanie Schmitt of Booneville was recently initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi at Texas Tech University in Baton Rouge, La.

 

Luke Barber of Lavaca, a University of Arkansas at Fort Smith student, has been selected to serve as the 2018 John Paul Hammerschmidt Fellow working in the Washington, D.C., office of U.S. Rep. Steve Womack, R-Rogers.

 

Ramona Smith of Carl Albert State College recently received the outstanding member award from the Oklahoma Career and Technical Education Equity Council in Oklahoma City. Smith is director of CASC's POwer 1 program in LeFlore, Haskell and Sequoyah counties.

 

Scholarships

Cody Harp of Alma will receive an Arkansas Federation of Music Clubs William Yick collegiate award from Williams Baptist College in Walnut Ridge. He is the son of Kevin and Cristy Harp of Alma.
