Here are a few of the things going on in, or a short distance from South Logan County in the coming days.
The 60th annual Mr. and Miss BHS Pageants are set for Saturday, Jan. 13. The pageant, which features 14 Miss BHS and 13 Mr. BHS contestants, begins at 7 p.m. and will be held in the high school auditorium.
The pageant features talent competition for each of the Miss BHS contestants, who also model an evening gown for part of their overall score. In addition to interviews conducted for both male and female contestants earlier in the day, Mr. BHS contestants are also scored on stage presence.
Gavin Scanting and Lexi Danekas are the reigning title holders, both winning last year as juniors.
Tickets are $5 each and may be purchased in advance, or at the door. To purchase tickets in advance you can check in at the high school office to reserve seats.
The pageant is organized yearly by the school’s Beta Club.
Garrison Music Company presents Blues Night at Warren’s Rec Room, located at 1437 West Newberry Road in Alma, from 7 to 10 p.m. on Jan. 13. All proceeds go to our IBC contestants representing the Riverfront Blues Society. Music will include: Austin Calvillo, Brett Rains Band and Eric Mathews and Friends
Free admission with all donations going to IBC contestants.
Have some fun at an upcoming “Fun For All” canvas painting event, called Silent Stag with fairy lights at Chameleon Arts, located at 623 Mena Street in Mena, at 6 p.m., on Jan. 13. This design is suggested for ages 9 and up. There will be optional fairy lights to light up the moon at no extra charge.
This is a 12”x12” canvas design, and the cost is $20 plus tax. No artistic skills are needed. The design is pre-sketched on the canvas and the painters will be led step by step through the painting. All supplies are provided, including aprons.
