See A Pageant
The Booneville High School Beta Club will be conducting the 59th annual Mr. and Miss BHS Pageant on Saturday, Jan. 14. The pageant begins at 7 p.m. and will be held in the high school auditorium.
Tickets are $5 each and may be purchased in advance or at the door. To purchase tickets in advance check in at the high school office.
Remember The Man In Black
On Saturday, Jan. 14, at 7 p.m., at the Greenwood Performing Arts Center Philip Bauer will impersonate Johnny Cash in The Legend of Johnny Cash.
This award-winning entertainer has performed in Branson, Mo. He is a member of the Oklahoma Opry Association where he received Male Vocalist of the Year Award and Entertainer of the Year. Bauer has performed with many country music stars including Leann Rimes, David Frizzell, Vince Gill, Jim Ed Brown, and Toby Keith.
Throughout the 90s, Bauer played in bands performing his own music as well as doing his many impersonations of various artists he admires. Yet, he considers it a blessing to be able to bring the music and memories of Johnny Cash to all his audiences both here and abroad.
W.S. Holland Johnny Cash’s only drummer. summed it up after playing for Bauer when he said, “It was spooky! He is the best I have ever seen.”
Historical Park Tour
Explore some of the many historic sites in Mount Magazine State Park during a guided tour. Enjoy the comfort of a van ride as a park interpreter takes you to many of Mount Magazine State Park’s points of interest, including old homesteads, farms, and historic overlooks. Space is limited. Rhymin’ N Stealin’ will be in concert at Gilley’s in the Choctaw Casino in Pocola, Okla., on Jan. 13 at 10 p.m.
The original Beastie Boys tribute band excites fans with their heart pounding performances of all the Beastie Boy favorites. The group began in 2009 and has earned national notoriety by recreating the Beastie Boys experience. You won’t want to miss Ad Rock, Mike D and MCA perform some favorites like “No Sleep til Brooklyn,” “Sabotage” and “Brass Monkey.”
