In addition to the 35th annual Booneville Christmas parade on Monday, here are a few of the things going on in the South Logan County and surrounding area.

Live Nativity Scene

Starting Point Church, located on Highway 109 north of Magazine will hold it’s live nativity scene again this year. Dates for the drive through scene are Dec. 18-20, 6 to 8 p.m. each night.

Access to the the scene is from the Ellington Road entrance.

Patty In Concert Tonight

It’s short notice but at 7:30 p.m. tonight Sandi Patty will be in concert at the Alma Performing Arts Center in Alma. The show is presented by the Alma Education and Arts Foundation.

According to the event page on the Alma PAC website, “Sandi is the most awarded female vocalist in contemporary Christian music history, with 40 Dove Awards. She was inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame in 2004 and has released over 30 albums, including her latest album “Everlasting” which features notable hymns and songs of worship in an intimate and acoustic setting.”

Patty was introduced to the world with her rendition of The Star Spangled Banner during the re-dedication of the Statue of Liberty in 1986. While her 30-year career is heavily rooted in the gospel music industry, Patty has extend her career performing with symphonies across the country and headlining the title role in sold out performances of the musical “Hello, Dolly!”

RAM Saturday

The Fort Smith Regional Art Museum (RAM), located at 1601 Rogers Avenue in Fort Smith, is offering free programs known as RAM Saturdays each week from noon to 5 p.m. through the end of the year.

Each week participants will learn about techniques and materials in the RAM studio and have the opportunity to make their own original works of art. The activity on Saturday, Dec. 17 will be painted ornaments.
